Palestinian officials said Thursday that they hoped for a resumption of the stalled peace process with Israel under the new administration of US President-elect George W. Bush.

"We expect that President George W. Bush will have a decisive influence on the Middle East peace process, particularly on the Palestinian track, after the difficulties it has faced in recent years," cabinet secretary Ahmed Abdel Rahman told AFP.

Palestinian international cooperation minister Nabil Shaath said he hoped Busy would follow an "honest, impartial and objective policy on the peace process in the region." -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
