A Palestinian teen was detained after allegedly carrying out a stab attack in Tel Aviv of Monday, which left a 19-year-old Israeli lightly to moderately injured, according to Israeli police.

Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said in a statement that "a young Israeli man was lightly injured after being stabbed by a suspect. He was taken to hospital and the suspect, who is a Palestinian, was arrested and taken to to be investigated."

Al-Samri added later that the suspected attacker was a 17-year-old Palestinian with "apparently nationalistic" motives.

A statement released by Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said the Israeli was evacuated to a Tel Aviv hospital and was in moderate condition, adding that police had imposed heightened security in area.
