Top Palestinian official Nabil Abu Rudeina said Sunday that his side did not want any partial accord with Israel, but is demanding a definitive agreement.
"There is no room for an intermediary or partial accord. A definitive accord must be reached, as that is the only way toward peace and security," Abu Rudeina told reporters.
"One cannot sign new agreements forever," he said.
He was responding to remarks by Israeli acting Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben Ami, who said that if a full accord cannot be reached with the Palestinians the sides can reach some other agreement, "at least a declaration of fundamental principles that will be the basis of any future agreement."
But Ben Ami said he still thought an agreement was possible in the final two weeks of US President Bill Clinton's term in office.
Abu Rudeina responded that he did not believe an accord would be reached "in the coming days." -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
