Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat welcomed Egypt's decision Thursday to scale down contacts with Israel, saying it was a "warning" to Israel.
"It's a very important measure because it sends a warning to Israel and a message to all countries of the world," he said, interviewed live by Abu Dhabi television from his Israeli-besieged West Bank headquarters in the city of Ramallah.
Egypt has decided to scale down contacts with Israel apart from "diplomatic channels which serve the Palestinian cause," Information Minister Safwat el-Sherif said earlier Wednesday. (Albawaba.com)
