Palestinian Killed, 60 Injured in Clashes in Gaza Strip, West Bank

A Palestinian youth was killed Sunday by Israeli troops near Erez crossing point in the Gaza Strip, and 60 others were injured in Palestinian lands. 

The boy was identified as Mahmoud Abu Najib, 16, hospital officials told AFP. 

The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported that Palestinians were clashing with Israeli troops near Neve Dekalim Jewish settlement in Gaza.  

Quoting army radio, the paper said that Palestinian forces were reportedly firing automatic weapons, and hurling firebombs at Israeli soldiers manning an outpost in the area. 

AFP said that 30 people were injured in clashes in various parts of the Gaza Strip, adding that 30 others were injured in gunfights and clashes in the West Bank. 

The Jerusalem Post added that Palestinians and Israeli troops traded fire near Gilo Jewish settlement, a short distance from Beit Jala. It added that Israeli troops responded with anti-tank rockets and machine gun fire.  

According to the daily, shooting was also directed at a bus travelling on the tunnel road connecting Jerusalem to the Gush Etzion bloc of Jewish settlements.  

The Israeli military closed the road following the incident, said the Jerusalem Post, adding that the Israeli forces responded with anti-tank rockets and machine gun fire – Albawaba.com
