ALBAWABA - The Government Media Office in Gaza said that Palestinian journalist Haneen Al Qashtan was killed along with her family in an Israeli airstrike on their house in the Al Nuseirat refugee camp, raising the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 7 to 95.
In a previous statement, the media office said Israel has intentionally killed journalists in Gaza with the aim of silencing the Palestinian narrative, concealing the truth, and preventing news and information from reaching regional and international public opinion.
Al Qashtan's killing comes following an airstrike that killed Al Jazeera cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa and injured the bureau chief of Al Jazeera in Gaza City Wael al-Dahdouh.
Abu Daqqa was left drowning in a pool of blood for 6 hours as paramedics were prevented from reaching his place due to heavy Israeli bombardment as he was trapped in the Farhana school.
On Sunday, the media office released a statement condemning Israel's deliberate targeting of journalists across Gaza. "By assassinating journalists, the Israeli occupation is trying to obscure the Palestinian narrative and attempt to obscure the truth, but it has failed miserably in breaking the will of our great Palestinian people," the office added.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Since October 7, more than 18,800 have been killed by Israeli airstrikes across the besieged strip, more than half of whom are children and women, the Ministry of Health reported. Additionally, 51,000 Gazans have been injured, with injuries varying between mild and severe.
