Sixty-three Palestinian prisoners have suspended their hunger strike after reaching a deal with Israeli authorities, AFP reports.

“The strikers, who have reached an agreement with the Israeli prison authorities, have decided to suspend their action with the approach of Ramadan,” said lawyer Abu Snena.

According to AFP, the prisoners have been partaking in the strike since April in protest over administrative detentions. Most detainees are being held without charges.

Human rights groups have denounced the act of administrative detention, with UN chief Ban Ki-Moon recently expressing concern about the deteriorating health of the prisoners on hunger strike.
