At least two Palestinians were killed and over twenty injured in the past 24 hours during a series of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. This came despite a truce announced Wednesday by Hamas. A Palestinian aged 20, died Friday night from his injuries after being hit by an airstrike earlier Friday while riding his motorcycle in the north of the Palestinian enclave, according to Palestinian medical sources. Two other Palestinians were lightly wounded during the same raid, the sources said.
Another Palestinian, aged 29, was killed and two other Palestinians injured, one seriously, in another raid, east of Al Bureij, in central Gaza, near the border with Israel, local medical sources said. The Israeli army confirmed in a statement an air raid "against a terrorist group during its preparations for launching a rocket from the center of the Gaza Strip".
On the night between Friday to Saturday, Israeli warplanes carried out three raids against Hamas targets, raising the total number of wounded to about 20, according to the Ministry of Local Health in Gaza. In a statement, the Israeli army said the sites had "been targeted in response to rocket attacks this week to the south of Israel" and added that Hamas was "solely responsible for all terrorist activities from the Gaza Strip ".
Since the beginning of this new round of violence on Monday, at least 12 Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes. Four Israeli border guards were injured and more than 135 rockets and mortars were fired against Israel, including 120 claimed by Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades.
