Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharraf left here Saturday for Doha to attend the summit conference of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), officials said.
The conference which opens on Sunday is expected to be dominated by the continuing unrest in Palestinian territories where the death toll in clashes with Israeli troops has now risen to 205.
Officials said the meeting would also consider two draft resolutions on the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India, which has caused two of the three wars between the neighbors since 1947.
Musharraf is expected to highlight Pakistan's desire for a peaceful negotiated settlement to its Kashmir dispute with India and Islamabad's backing for peace efforts in Afghanistan, they said.
The Pakistani ruler will also hold bilateral meetings with other leaders from the OIC on the sidelines of the conference.
Pakistan will present a number of proposals in the field of security and disarmament for endorsement by the summit, according to the officials -- ISLAMABAD (AFP)
