A wave of bombing attacks swept the north of Iraq on Monday evening, killing an estimated 61 people, according to AFP.
The majority of those killed were inhabitants of Mosul, in the north of Iraq, security officials said told AFP.
Mosul is largely populated by Sunni Muslims. Five car bombs specifically targeted the army and police forces killed over 25 people, officials added, noting that a curfew has now been imposed on the city.
