The Iranian government has set up jamming devices near the Turkish border to block satellite television broadcasts from opponents of the regime, the main Iranian armed opposition group charged Sunday.
In a statement received by AFP in Nicosia, Mujahedeen Khalq said the Iranian government jammed the Saturday evening broadcast of the group's television program, which first went on air July 20th.
One of the group members said the jamming also disrupted broadcasts by CNN, Euro News, MBC and Dutch, Japanese and Spanish channels that use the same UTELSAT satellite.
It said the decision to set up the "jamming devices" near the Bazargan border post with Turkey was made by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, chaired by President Mohammad Khatami.
The Mujahedeen said it was sending its complaint to various United Nations bodies and organizations involved with international broadcasting, and called for sanctions against the Tehran regime.
