ALBAWABA- The Omani Maritime Security Center announced the rescue of nine crew members from the oil tanker "Prestige Falcon," which capsized off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman. The body of one crew member has been recovered, and rescue efforts are ongoing.
The Indian Navy also confirmed the rescue of nine crew members from the ill-fated tanker. The incident has drawn significant attention, with conflicting reports about the tanker's cargo.
Notably, the Aden Electricity Corporation denied that the capsized tanker carried a diesel shipment for its power stations. In a statement on Facebook, the corporation clarified that the diesel shipment, estimated at 5,000 tons, belonged to a merchant and was meant for the commercial market.
It also stated that a separate shipment of 33,000 tons of diesel allocated for Aden Electricity arrived last Saturday from the Emirati company ADNOC.
The Omani Maritime Security Center informed Reuters that some crew members of the capsized tanker are still missing.
The "Prestige Falcon," flying the Comoros flag, sank a day earlier off the port of Duqm. The ship, which was expected to arrive at the oil port in Aden within two days, had 16 sailors on board, and the search for the missing crew continues.
