Jigawa State in northern Nigeria has signed a 15-million-dollar contract with a Moroccan company to boost agriculture in the state, a top official said Saturday.
Under the terms of the contract, the Moroccan agricultural company will supply one million units of vitro date palm seedlings to the state, Nigeria's ambassador to Morocco Ladan Shuni said in a statement.
He said the seedlings would be distributed to farmers to assist them in their profession.
Shuni said the seedlings would soon arrive in the country.
"The supply will very soon commence because about 30,000 seedlings are ready for shipment to Nigeria," he said.
Nigeria and Morocco have set up a joint commission under a bilateral agreement signed last month in Rabat -- DUTSE, Nigeria (AFP)
