ALBAWABA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that a Muslim man stopped a deadly attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach, and he admitted that this action saved more Jewish people from dying during the event.

Netanyahu's comment came after he changed what he had said earlier in a cabinet meeting, where he first claimed that a Jewish person had confronted the attacker.  The Israeli media said later that the prime minister had corrected what he said when he had more information.

Netanyahu praised the man for his bravery in stopping a deadly attack.  He said that the action should be praised because it saved innocent lives.

In the same cabinet meeting, Netanyahu spoke out against the Australian government, saying that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's government had not done enough to deal with the rising racism.  He said that the authorities had not done enough to stop extremist behavior.

Australian news sources said that the guy who took a weapon from one of the attackers was named Ahmed Al-Ahmad. He is a Muslim and the father of two children.  In video that has been shared a lot online, he can be seen attacking a shooter in all of the chaos.  Al-Ahmad was shot and then taken to the hospital.

During Hanukkah celebrations at Bondi Beach, an attack killed and hurt many people. The event drew attention from around the world and sparked new discussions about public safety and radical violence.
