In a speech marking the two-year anniversary of the 2006 Summer War, Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah condemned Wednesday's bombing attack in the city of Tripoli, saying the "crime was targeting the entire nation".

Elsewhere in his speech, he said the resistance is aware of Israeli plans to assassinate and kill leaders in Hizbullah but added that these would not hold his movement back. According to Nasrallah, Israel is now facing its "biggest leadership crisis since its establishment."

He also mentioned the recent war between Georgia and Russia. According to him, Georgia used Israeli arms and got assistance from Israeli experts but failed on the ground.

Regarding the internal situation in Lebanon, the Shiite leader said the new cabinet is a true national unity government, and "we highlight the importance of discussing the defense strategy." He also hailed President Michel Suleiman's recent visit to Damascus as a major development. According to him, the visit laid "the ground for a new period and indicates a qualitative development in ties between Lebanon and Syria." Nasrallah added: "We hope that no one would hamper these efforts."

Earlier in the day, Syria and Lebanon agreed to resume work of a committee to demarcate the common border, excluding the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms. A joint statement said the two neighbors also agreed to examine another thorny issue, the fate of hundreds of people who have been missing "in the two countries" since the 1975-1990 civil war in Lebanon.

The statement was read by Secretary General of the Lebanese-Syrian Higher Council Nasri Khoury at a joint news conference by the foreign ministers of the two countries, Syria's Walid Muallem and Lebanon's Fawzi Salloukh, as Suleiman ended his landmark two-day visit.

"Demarcation of Shebaa Farms is not possible in light of the Israeli occupation," Muallem said.
