The Nasdaq index shed 62.32 points or 2.06 percent to close at 2,966.67 points Monday, leaving it at its lowest level since November 1999, and the DJIA lost 72.05 points (0.68 percent) to 10,530.9.
The Standard and Poor's 500 index closed 1.08 percent lower at 1,351.26 points.
Closing levels were off session lows, after a wave of buying activity boosted high-tech stocks towards the close of trade, dealers said -- NEW YORK (AFP)
