The Palestinian Minister of International Planning and Cooperation, Nabil Sha’ath has said that the real judgment on the outcome of the Cairo emergency summit is linked with the extent to which its decisions are implemented on the ground.

“The summit recommendations are not enough and not up to the level of the Palestinian aspirations,” he added.

In a telephone interview Albawaba.com Sha’ath added, however, that “holding the summit under the current circumstances after a long pause has had its positive impact, and it is to be considered a big gain.

“We have been suffering from the results of Arab fragmentation since the last summit, and this summit has been held in response to what is going on in the Palestinian lands,” he said.

Sha’ath stressed that the violence in the Palestinian territories, and the big sacrifices by the Palestinian people, in addition to

the sympathy shown by the Arab people throughout the Arab world to the Palestinians, was the main drive behind holding the summit.

Sha’ath considered the summit decisions to support the Palestinian people uprising and “the Palestinian national rights in Jerusalem, refugees and independent state” as a good attitude. But the Palestinian Minister concluded his speech saying: “we have to wait and see the escalation which Barak will revert to”.
