Suspected Muslim separatist rebels shot dead four Hindu children in the disputed Indian state of Kashmir, an army official said Saturday.
Army spokesman Jagdeep Singh said two suspected guerrillas stormed into the house of Gian Singh, a village headman, late Friday and fired indiscriminately.
"Four of Gian Singh's children, whose ages ranged from three to 15, were killed," the spokesman said. "Gian Singh and another of his sons were injured in the attack."
The raid took place in Sarju village, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) north of the Kashmir winter capital Jammu.
