AFP reports that Emirates, Lufthansa, and Air France announced that they are rerouting around the Sinai peninsula as the investigation into Saturday's fatal crash continues.
On Saturday, a Russian passenger plane crashed in Sinai, with all 224 aboard killed.
"Emirates is currently avoiding flying over the Sinai peninsula until more information is available," said a spokesperson of Emirates airlines.
"We are currently monitoring the situation," added the spokesperson in a statement.
A Daesh affiliate group in Egypt is claiming responsibilty, but Russia's transport minister said this statement "cannot be considered accurate." AFP reports that an Egyptian security offical said the crash was not related to an attack.
In the Russian airplane's last communication to a senior Egyptian air traffic control officer, they reported radio trouble.
The Kogalymavia flight with 214 Russian and three Ukranian passengers and seven crew, had taken off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh in south Sinai bound for Saint Petersburg.
