UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan received on Tuesday a message from his Egyptian counterpart, Hosni Mubarak, dealing with bilateral relations, reported the official WAM news agency.

The note was handed to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan by Egyptian ambassador-designate Fahmi Ahmed Faid, it said.

Meanwhile, the agency said that Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebaid met Wednesday with outgoing UAE ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmoud.

Mahmoud praised the bilateral ties as “special” and thanked Egyptian government and people for the assistance and warm hospitality accorded to him during his stay, said WAM.

The Egyptian president visited Abu Dhabi in May and held talks with his counterpart on several bilateral and regional issues.

An earlier report this week by the Cairo-based Middle East Times said that UAE investments in Egypt increased by 15 percent, compared to last year - Albawaba.com
