ALBAWABA - In a recent update on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reveals a grim reality, stating that the northern part of the Gaza Strip has been reduced to rubble due to Israel's relentless attacks since October 7.

According to MSF's social media post, the impact of Israel's indiscriminate strikes is evident in the continuous influx of dead and injured individuals to Nasser Hospital in Han Yunus, located in southern Gaza. The organization raises concerns, emphasizing that nowhere in Gaza is currently considered safe.

Chris Hook, MSF's medical team leader, paints a dire picture at Nasser Hospital, describing the emergency department as fully overwhelmed. He notes that doctors are forced to navigate through the bodies of deceased children while treating new patients. The toll of the conflict has reached staggering numbers, with casualties now totaling 20,057 Palestinians killed and 53,320 injured. This includes over 8,000 children and 6,200 women.

The conflict initiated on October 7 when Hamas' military wing, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel in response to continuous violations against Palestinians and their sacred sites, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel reported 1,200 casualties and 5,132 injuries in the October 7 attacks.

Updating the casualty figures from the Israeli side, the military announced the deaths of 471 soldiers, including 139 during the ground invasion. Despite a brief "humanitarian pause" from November 24, during which 81 Israelis and 240 Palestinians were released, Israel continued to detain thousands of Palestinians.

In the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, Israeli forces and illegal settlers have caused the deaths of 304 Palestinians in attacks. At the Israeli-Lebanese border, the conflict between the Israeli army and Hezbollah resulted in the deaths of 26 Lebanese civilians, 121 Hezbollah members, 5 Israeli civilians, and 6 Israeli soldiers since October 8.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with 1.9 million forcibly displaced Palestinians grappling with severe challenges in accessing basic necessities like housing, food, clean water, medication, and healthcare services. As the conflict persists, the humanitarian crisis in the region intensifies.
