Morocco and Algeria Seek to Reduce Tension

The Algerian Foreign Minister, Abdelaziz Belkhadem and the Moroccan King, Mohammad VI, both tried to play down tensions and affirmed that there is no possibility of war between the two countries. 

 

Tensions are rising in advance of the end of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara of Morocco, "Minurso" on the last day of October.  

 

Uncertainty over the fate of the UN peacekeepers enforcing the ceasefire in the Western Sahara region precipitated a public diplomatic argument between the two countries but threat of war is negligible. (albawaba.com)
