A permanent Professorship in Moroccan studies has been established at the University of Oxford in the name of King Mohammed VI. The chair will be located at St Antony’s College, one of about 30 colleges that make up the University.

This is part of Morocco's publicity drive to improve its standing in the international community. The Moroccan government is also donating scholarships for Moroccan students to study in the UK. A total of 24 million dirhams has been contributed to the project, about US$ 2.7 million

Professeur Michael Willis is the first incumbent in the chair. He has already taught at Al Akhawayne d’Ifrane University.
