With the annual arrival of about 1 million expatriates who come to Morocco each summer, many foreign products of all kinds find their way into local markets without going through customs. As a result of this annual phenomenon the kingdom’s souks (popular markets) usually thrive with small stands of foreign goods during this time of the year.

Among the main products that are displayed in the Moroccan markets are mobile phones, clothing articles and various electronic products, which many Moroccan smuggle as gifts to their relatives.
