The General Authority of the Syrian Revolution announced Tuesday noon that eight people were so far shot dead by the Syrian army, mostly in the city of Homs. In addition, there are reports that the Syrian army started to withdraw its tanks from the district of Baba Amr in the city as Arab observers were heading to the city.
The team of the Arab observers is led by General Mohammad Ahmed Mustafa. They were to hold meeting with the governor of the city before touring the areas of tension.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated today that tanks belonging to the Syrian army were seen withdrawing from the district of Bab Amr. The London-based Observatory conveyed that at least 11 tanks withdrew from the vicinity of the neighborhood. Rami Abdel Rahman of the Observatory however confirmed there were still tanks in the city, including many of them in Bab Amr,. According to him, the Syrian army has tried to hide some of the tanks inside government buildings.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights spoke about the killing of 34 people Monday in Homs alone. Eyewitnesses said Bab Amr came under heavy shelling by government forces.
