Israeli Chief of Staff General Shaul Mofaz warned the Israeli cabinet Sunday morning there were serious intelligence reports that Palestinian groups were still attempting to carry out “terror" attacks against targets in Israel, reported the Jerusalem Post.
Mofaz said use of car bombs could not be ruled out, the paper added.
The paper quoted Prime Minister Ehud Barak as saying at the meeting “Israel's final aim,” was “to reach a comprehensive solution to the conflict with the Palestinians.”
Cabinet ministers agreed to the need for continuing to search for a diplomatic solution to the conflict as long as there was a partner to the process, said the daily.
The uprising took on a different turn “Lebanonizing” the struggle, according to several Israeli political analysts.
Several attacks were carried out in the Palestinian territories targeting Israeli settlers and settlements, while at least two Israelis died in a car bomb in Hadera, to the north of Tel Aviv, last month.
Palestinian groups have repeatedly stated that they intend to step up the uprising, a position even adopted by PNA officials – Albawaba.com
