A moderate earthquake jolted parts of southern Iran on Wednesday but caused no damage or injuries, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

The tremor, measuring 3.9 on the open-ended Richter scale, struck at 21:35 p.m. (18:05 GMT), with its epicenter registered near the city of Nourabad, 158 kilometers west of Shiraz.

Nourabad is part of the city of Mamasani which lies on the southern fault of the Zagros Mountains, an area highly prone to earthquakes and which has been struck by several devastating tremors in the past – Albawaba.com
