Though the Houthis have not officially claimed responsibility for the incident, they are suspected to be behind the attack.

This suspicion arises in the context of escalating tensions following the events of October 7, as the Houthis have launched several attacks on vessels in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and the Mediterranean in response to Israel's blockade of Gaza.

The recent wave of assaults has involved the use of missiles, drones, and unmanned boats, targeting commercial and military vessels in the region.
