A new Paul McCartney composition is causing quite a stir — and no, it's not Liverpool Oratorio 2. "Free Now," featured on McCartney's five-track EP Liverpool Sound Collage, is the first original work to incorporate unheard material by The Beatles since the 1996 release of "Real Love" according to ABConline.
"It's a new little piece of The Beatles," said McCartney in a statement issued on August 18. But perhaps not The Beatles as fans remember them. Yes, the track features outtakes from recordings made between 1965 and 1969 with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon, but the finished product is an electronic dance tune, with spoken asides from the Fab Four (such as Lennon asking, "OK, Paul, you ready boy?") and bits of previously unheard Beatles guitar work woven into the mix.
