Mansour Al-Maswari- A fire has broken out at the Leviathan gas field, located off the coast of Haifa, Israel. Initial reports from Israeli sources suggest that the blaze was caused by a malfunction.
However, other media outlets claim that the Leviathan field was targeted in a drone attack, with Iraqi and Yemeni Houthi resistance groups suspected of involvement, though no official confirmation has been made.
The Leviathan Field, situated in Israel's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) approximately 130 km from Haifa's shores, is a critical energy asset.
It comprises four subsea wells connected by a manifold and two 120 km pipelines to an offshore platform where gas processing occurs.
