ALBAWABA- A mass shooting occurred in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabeer area region of Muttrah, Sultanate of Oman, resulting in numerous casualties.
Oman police said in a statement regarding the shooting: "The Omani Police have responded to a huge shooting incident in the vicinity of a mosque in Al-Wadi Al-Kabeer region."
The statement also indicated that at least four people were killed and a number were injured in the shooting attack. "All security measures and procedures have been taken to control the situation," Oman police continued in a statement posted on X.
An investigation into the incident, which took place on the night of Ashura, was launched by the police.
According to local websites, Omani counter-terrorism forces rapidly responded to the shooting and they are currently at the scene.
Earlier reports confirmed that four people were killed and some were injured in the mass shooting at Al-Wadi Al-Kabeer area in Muscat, Oman. More than 700 people are trapped inside as security forces exchange fire with the attackers.
