Maroc Telecom's decision to quintuple the cost of dedicated analog telephone lines in Morocco has put the company under fire, Upline Securities reported.

Meanwhile, the failure of the company to give advance notice of the increase to the affected clients, who include numerous businesses and banks, has made the situation more uncertain, according to the company's news service.

Upline reported that the monthly fee for the analog lines had risen from Dh500 to Dh2,500.

Several major clients hit by the increase have claimed that Maroc Telecom is actually promoting digital lines because it can control their data transmission speeds, and they have denounced what they regard as an abuse of monopoly power, added the company – Albawaba.com
