Management Guru, Tom Peters is set to open the proceedings for The 2nd Middle East HR Summit to be held from 18 – 21 September 2005 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai, with the HR conference itself officially being opened on the 19th at 8.15am with an inaugural ceremony at 8:30 am.

According to Tom Peters who will be enlightening the audiences with his latest theory, ‘Re-imagine! The Power Of People,’ “The white-collar jobs of yesteryear are fast disappearing. Hence we must find entirely new ways to add value. Our only option: Moving beyond any activity that is even remotely "rote", and moving up the creativity scale. We must convert ourselves into genuine business people and cease to be mere cubicle slaves. Whether or not we are on some company's payroll, we must behave as if each of us is the CEO of Me Inc. The new mantra: Distinct or Extinct.”

“We are very pleased to have Tom Peters on day one of the Summit. He will set the tone for the event which, basically speaking, is all about people and how each of us has to manage ourselves and those around us as best we can. The conference itself will commence on the 19th and it certainly promises to be a non-stop learning experience,” said Jackie Wilks, Conference Director, IIR Middle East.

With over 500 participants registered for the Summit, Industry experts are hopeful that the local HR sector will see some significant growth in the months following the conference as well as unite as a singular professional body. “"It is imperative that the HR industry works in close coordination, complementing each other's interests. Sharing best practices and transparency will forge a united front, ensuring the growth of the sector by leaps and bounds. Achievement is not an overnight process. However, any information the participants absorb from the Summit will go a long way in realising this essential goal" said Sultan Al Hajji, Deputy General Manager, Total Abu Al Bukhoosh, UAE.

The Middle East HR Summit is organised by the Institute for International Research (IIR). In the 2nd successive year of showing, the Middle East HR Summit provides a forum for visitors to share questions, goals, challenges and experiences with the conference faculty as well as peers from almost every region of the world. The Summit focuses on the strategic level of HR, with a strong emphasis on existing global best practice, using a dynamic mix of case studies from leading local, regional and international blue-chip companies. The 1st Middle East HR Summit, held in September 2004 in Dubai, attracted over 200 human resource professionals and 43 leading regional and global practitioners.
