Hilton Hotels has recognised Glenn Ybanez and Amilil Doton, waiter and linen attendant at the Makkah Hilton & Towers, for their star power. The two Middle East & Africa winners of the first Hilton global video contest had the opportunity to record a song whilst in Dubai to attend the Dubai International Jazz Festival.
In honour of the brand’s 22nd year as a Recording Academy® partner and the official hotel sponsor of the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards, Hilton organised a global Team Member sweepstakes celebrating the powerful influence of music. The “Hilton Rockstar” Team Member giveaway encouraged employees to submit music, video and stories depicting the impact of music on their lives. The result was an overwhelming expression of originality from Hilton team members around the world.
Ybanez and Doton were the winners from Middle East & Africa, enjoying an all-expenses paid trip to Dubai with VIP access to the Dubai International Jazz Festival and a Seawings (seaplane) tour of Dubai.
“Our team members around the world are known for providing authentic Hilton hospitality. Now we know many also have an inner rock star. Entries expressed creativity, originality and talent. Glenn and Amilil’s Farewell to Friends composition struck a chord with us due to its theme, originality and treatment,” said Andrew Flack, Vice President – Global Brand Marketing, Hilton Hotels brand.
As part of their prize, the winning duo spent three days in Dubai, hosted by Hilton Dubai Creek. They also recorded their song at the Creative Force Studios, and attended this year’s Dubai International Jazz Festival. Hilton Hotels also partnered with Seawings to organise a seaplane tour of Dubai for the winners.
“To have a studio recording is every musician’s aspiration and we are grateful to Hilton for making this possible. It is very gratifying to win a global contest as we put a lot of effort into creating an original composition,” said Glenn Ybanez and Amilil Doton.
