Visitors to this week's Dubai International Boat Show 2006 (DIBS), organised by Dubai World Trade Centre will see one of the largest gatherings of high-end pleasure craft from around the world right here in the Middle East.
With close to 300 boats in both on-water berths and on-land display, DIBS attendees will be able to see international brands such as Azimut, Cranchi, Ferretti from Italy, Astondoa from Spain, in addition to Sunseeker, Fairline, and Princess from the UK, displaying their finest yachts.
Other major manufacturers include Formula and Monterey represented by Macky International Marine, Cigarette displayed by the Middle East dealer Alghanim Marine and Fountain represented by Al Shaya Marine.
Eight of the world’s finest super-yachts, measuring over 24 metres in length, will be on display at the show, including the largest super-yacht built in the Gulf, Romeo Design’s 52 metre long, Al Hanem.
The “On Water” sections of DIBS 2006 is showcasing state-of-the-art boats, including many local manufacturers such as Al Hareb, Al Shaali Marine, and Gulf Craft, who are showcasing a large range of boats including their latest models.

Part of our approach is to present a diverse and exciting mix of exhibiting companies and products to the show, so as to truly ensure there is something for every visitor,” said Trixee Loh, General Manager – Exhibitions, Dubai World Trade Centre.
One of the highlights of this year’s show will be the presence of the UAE’s very own submersible manufacturing company, Exomos, in the Marina Display. Exomos’ range includes a wide variety of submersibles, designed for the recreational needs of the Middle East region.
Leisure Marine will be displaying a range of major boat brands, including Princess, Larson and Nedship Boats and Fairline Emirates aims to launch a new charter business unit. The unit aims to capitalise upon rising interest in boating among visitors to the region and residents. It will also unveil its smaller flybridge boats, Phantom 40 and Phantom 50, for the first time in the UAE.
“This is one the most exciting times in the Middle East marine industry’s history. Developments such as the Palm Islands, The World and Dubai Marina are generating real demand in the market and we’re all very optimistic about the potential of this year’s show,” said Mark Lamb, chief executive officer of Fairline Emirates.
Executives at DIBS 2006 are confident that this year’s range of craft on display will be the most advanced ever assembled in Dubai and look forward to welcoming a record number of visitors to see them.
In response to a high level of visitor attendance, DWTC has arranged for more public visitor parking facilities in the area next to the Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa at the Dubai Marina. Also just for the weekend of 16th and 17th March, it has further added more parking in the vicinity of the American University of Dubai. Complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided.
The Dubai International Boat Show, organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre, will take place from 14 – 18 March 2006 at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi from 3pm to 9.30pm daily. The show is open free of charge to Trade and to the General Public, at a nominal cost of AED25 per person. Access to the On-Water Marina Area may be restricted at times. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied at all times.
