Three Ethiopian women suspected of stealing more than LL15 million in Lebanese and foreign currencies were arrested in Tyre on Friday, The Daily Star reported Saturday.

Police arrested the 22-year old Ethiopian maid who was considered as a possible suspect after investigators failed to find any signs of forced entry.

According to police, the woman allegedly delivered the stolen money to her two accomplices, who then transferred some funds to Ethiopia, and used the rest to purchase jewelry and clothes, said the paper.

After an investigation, police confiscated some 26 gold rings, five pairs of earrings, 21 gold chains, two bracelets, a women’s gold watch, and a Kodak camera, in addition of five other bags containing clothes, shoes, and almost LL2 million in cash, which were seized and then returned, the daily said -- Albawaba.com
