Lufthansa's revenues on Middle East routes rose 19 percent in the first half of 2000, following a corresponding 19.5 percent increase in the number of passengers carried by Lufthansa on these routes, reported Daily Star.
Michael Suesser, Lufthansa's Middle East director, told the paper that the increase had exceeded expectations. He attributed the improvements to the increase in the number of flights to and from Lebanon and Jordan, and increased capacity on the Riyadh and Dammam routes, using the Airbus A340.
The A340 began service on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai routes in 1999, said the paper – Albawaba.com
