Lucent Technologies to Host Bell Labs' Technology Seminars in Dubai, Cairo

Lucent Technologies will host technology seminars featuring networks in the 21st Century, optical networking, multimedia communications applications, and the future role of the Internet, reported PC Magazine.  

The first seminar will be held in Dubai on September 6th and the second in Cairo, Egypt on September 9th.  

US-based scientists from Bell Labs, the research and development engine of Lucent Technologies will conduct the seminars, and will highlight these advanced technologies and applications, which are used to optimize enterprise resources, said the magazine.  

Some 450 guests, representing a cross section of industry, including education, science, local PTTs, the military and Government are expected to attend the events.  

Thomas Aprille, technical manager of Advanced Technologies at Bell Labs will examine these technologies and explain the types of network products and architectures that are likely to result, and provide insight on the technological and market framework within which to resolve these types of unpredictabilities, said the magazine.  

Other topics to be discussed will include optical communication and optical networking, which will be presented by Andrew Stentz of Bell's Photonics Research Lab. David Boyer, from Bell's Multimedia Applications and Interfaces Research Lab will demonstrate many recent Bell Labs-developed multimedia applications.
