A earthquake measuring 3.5 on the 12-point Mercalli scale was registered early Friday in the southern Algarve tourist region but there were no reports of damage or victims, the meteorological institute said.
It was the second time this week that a quake was reported in southern Portugal.
A tremor also measuring 3 on the Mercalli scale was registered overnight Thursday on two of the Azores islands -- Sao Jorge and Terceira -- also without causing damages.
The epicenter of the tremor at 2:47 am (0247 GMT) in Algarve was located some five kilometer’s (three miles) from the city of Monchique, the institute said -- LISBON (AFP)
