On Thursday, two Israeli men received a sentence of life plus 21 years each for the gruesome killing of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, aged 16.

In part of the volatile incidents that led to the 2014 Gaza war, the two Israelis teens, along with a third man, abducted Kheidr form a street in Jerusalem and subsequently set him on fire and watched him burn alive.

At the time of the murder charges, both men were only 16, but now are adults and were given the maximum sentence allowable for the crime.

Lawyers claim the third man, 31-year-old Israeli settler Yosef Haim Ben-David, suffers from mental illness, and therefore was not responsible for his actions; however, although the court did not rule whether or not he was mentally incompetent, they did find him guilty of the crime.
