Two planes carrying humanitarian relief for Palestinians in the West Bank landed in Amman Wednesday. The two cargo planes arrived from Benghazi and Tripoli carrying such items as medicines, medical supplies, food, blankets and clothes.
At the beginning of the week, Libyan leader Moamar Gadhafi had ordered an airlift to carry aid to the Palestinians worth an estimated $50 million.
Meanwhile, the Libyan ambassador to Jordan, Abdul-Hamid Farhat, told reporters that Tripoli was coordinating with the Red Cross on distributing the aid across the border, according to AP.
A representative of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the Jordanian capital city of Amman, Atallah Kheiri said that the cargo would be put in warehouses until "we get the approval of the Israelis to transport the aid to the Palestinian territories”.
Farfat told reporters that additional planes would land in Egypt with aid for the Gaza Strip. (Albawaba.com)
