Sabratha revolutionaries took full control of the city after repulsing Daesh, following fierce fighting that continued up to the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A security source at the city said six revolutionaries were killed in the clashes that flared up between the military council and Daesh. The source confirmed that the revolutionaries fully control the city.

The Municipal Council on its part said the revolutionaries began a combing operation at retreats and houses at the outskirts of the city to cleanse it from the criminals and members of Daesh at large.

The military council urged all revolutionaries, the public, doctors and nurses to join the locals and carry out their national duty and their duty to the city according to their capacities.

Earlier in the week, Libyan forces pushed militants out of eastern Benghazi after heavy fighting. This followed a US-led airstrike campaign that killed 50, including two kidnapped Serbians.
