Libya's Tobruk-based internationally recognized government conducted airstrikes against Daesh militants in the eastern city of Derna, Reuters reports.
Air force commander Saqer al-Joroushi told Reuters warplanes targeted Daesh positions on Monday and Tuesday.
"We ask all residents to stay away from checkpoints and ISIS [Daesh] locations," Joroushi told Reuters. "We also warn fishers and tankers against approaching the coast all the way to Derna."
Libya has been bitterly embroiled in a civil war since veteran strongman leader Moammar Gadhafi was ousted in 2011. Rival governments compete for power of the small MENA nation, while extremists conduct terrorist attacks throughout the country.
