A Syrian helicopter Tuesday fired two rockets into the outskirts of the northeastern town of Arsal, wounding seven people including one in critical condition, a security source said.
The rockets landed in a cherry field in the Wadi Al Hawa on the outskirts of Arsal, the source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Daily Star.
Among the wounded were Hasan Al Hujeiri, his son and his brother, as well as Syrian national Walid Hassoun, who sustained a head wound.
The attack came days after Hezbollah members clashed near the border with Lebanon with rebel groups in a bid to root out the opposition from the Qalamoun region. The fighting took place in the border area near Baalbek and Arsal, which hosts thousands of Syrian refugees and is known for its support for the Sunni-led opposition against President Bashar Assad's regime.
Syrian jets have on multiple occasions attacked the outskirts of Arsal, leading to material damage and a times loss of life.
