Speaker Nabih Berri Wednesday postponed to Jan. 7 Lebanon's presidential election after Parliament failed for a 16th time to elect a new head of state as the country marks 200 days without a president.
As in the previous 14 sessions, a lack of quorum due to a boycott by March 8 legislators forced the postponement of the election.
Quorum was met during the first legislative session to elect a president in April, but no candidate received enough votes to win.
Lebanon has been without a president since May 25 when Michel Sleiman's six-year term ended.
