The military court Monday sentenced Arabi Ibrahim to three years of hard labor after being convicted of links to ISIS (Daesh) and the Nusra Front, a judicial source told The Daily Star.
Ibrahim was also fined LL200,000 ($133) over his involvement in the Syrian war as well as in the clashes between the Tripoli neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.
The military court was adjourned till Nov. 14, when it will begin the trial of Omar al-Jaghir over his suspected affiliation to the Nusra Front, and his participation in the clashes between Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen. Jaghir is also suspected of trying to kill Lebanese soldiers.
His session was postponed because a witness in the case could not attend Monday's hearing.
Omar Mikati, the son of ISIS official Ahmad Salim Mikati, and Aref. G, will face trial on Feb. 12 over their suspected affiliations to ISIS, the implementation of "terrorist operations," attempting to carry out suicide attacks in Lebanon, and throwing grenades at an Army checkpoint in Tripoli.
The session was postponed over the absence of a defense lawyer.
