A blast targeting an office of Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah in a Damascus suburb has left tens injured, a media opposition group reported late on Monday.
This is the second assault on one of Hezbollah’s offices in the capital‘s Sayida Zeinab district, which is also the location of a Shiite shrine.
The opposition Free Syrian Army also claimed that tens of Hezbollah fighters were injured after the second attack on Saturday.
The district in Southern Damascus was used as a base by Iranian-backed Hezbollah and Iraqi Shiite fighters.
In a separate story, a Sunni Arab lawmaker was kidnapped by Islamist fighters during clashes with members of his pro-regime tribe in Syria’s eastern province of Deir Ezzor, Agence France-Presse reported a monitoring group as saying on Monday.
Fighters from the Ahrar al-Sham rebel group and jihadists from the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) abducted MP Mohanna Faisal al-Fayyad on Sunday evening, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The abduction, the Britain-based Observatory said, followed two days of clashes between members of Fayyad’s tribe, which supports the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, and the rebels groups.
Most of the oil-rich Deir Ezzor province is in rebel hands.
