General Security announced Saturday the arrest of a man suspected of having links to militant groups.

In a statement, General Security said it arrested a Syrian national, identified by the initials Aa.M., as part of a special operation.

He confessed to providing logistical assistance to militants and smuggling them into Syria so they could join the ranks of militant groups fighting government forces, the statement added. The suspect said he was working under a Syrian militant commander identified as M. M.

He was referred to a court for further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army also arrested two men in Beirut’s southern suburbs suspected of being affiliated with militant groups.
