The Lebanese army killed three Syria-based militants trying to set up a multiple rocket launcher near the northeastern border town of Arsal, a military source said Thursday.
The source told The Daily Star artillery batteries and helicopter gunships opened fire on the militant group shortly before nightfall Tuesday after spotting “terrorists” trying to attack targets in the northern Bekaa Valley with a rocket launcher.
The Lebanese army killed five militants trying to infiltrate Arsal late Tuesday evening.
A military statement Wednesday said troops clashed with the militant group, killing five.
The Lebanese army has been engaged in a war against militants from Daesh and Nusra Front along the northeastern border with Syria.
