ALBAWABA - General Director of Uraldronzavod, Vladimir Tkachuk, one of Russia’s key arms and FPV drone manufacturers, survived a near assassination attempt, reported by 66.ru citing emergency service sources.
The attempt occurred in Bolshoy Istok near Yekaterinburg; the car, a Mercedes, was blown up with Tkachuk and the driver inside; the driver died in the explosion while Tkachuk was moved to intensive care following severe injuries.
The police still have not released an official statement though a criminal case was opened by authorities and investigations began into possible culprits who, if caught, would be charged with “attempted murder committed by a method dangerous to the public.”
Uraldronzavod, Tkachuk’s company, manufactures Upyr FPV drones that target armored vehicles and Tkachuk has previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the development of the drone, highlighting its importance to the Russian military effort.
